Today I looked at 2 amateur student films from my school called Black Water Bay and 024. Like when looking at the Hollywood I focused on mise-en-scene, camerawork, sound, editing, how it affected the audience and my personal opinion on the trailer. Furthermore I decided to compare the amateur film trailers with the professional film trailers. I done this by looking at things the amateur trailers did which made them seem professional and things they should have done to make their film seem more professional. By spotting the other mistakes it helped me make sure that I don't make the same mistakes in my own film, allowing me to make the best possible film trailer I can.
Today I looked at the Iron-Man 3 and The Expendables 3 trailer. I focused on things which made the trailers very good and how it made the audience want to watch the film. I also looked at what kind of effects the miss-en-scene, camera, sound and editing have on the audience. I wrote down my personal opinion on certain parts and how it interested me to watch the film as well as how it would have put me off the film. I looked for shots that are really liked which I would like to add to my own film as well.
Today I began researching trailers. I believed that this was very important in pre-production because it gave me ideas on what to do in my own teaser trailers as well as what not to do in the teaser. I started to look at amateur and also some professional 'Hollywood' trailers where in some instances the it was clearly visible that the 'Hollywood' trailers were better. I mainly focused on the action genre since it is popular and I also enjoy creating with in that genre.
Today we had a class lesson on what kind of things to look at when researching film trailers. We looked at example film trailers such as Hunger Games and Star Trek. We discussed what made those film trailers good and why we liked/disliked the trailer giving reasons from looking at mise-e-scene, camera, sound and editing.
